Second Trade and Transport Facilitation in Southeast Europe Project (TTFSE II) for Bulgaria

The second Trade and Transport Facilitation in Southeast Europe Project (TTFSE II) for Bulgaria appears to be a logical continuation of the successfully completed first project - part of the World Bank regional program for trade and transport facilitation in Southeast Europe.

The TTFSE II Project primarily seeks to facilitate regional trade and transport by improving the capacity, effectiveness and quality of services at selected European Union (EU) external border crossings with particular focus on the Trans-European Transport Network. (Corridor IV: Kapitan Andreevo-Sofia-Vidin; Corridor Xc: Kapitan Andreevo-Sofia-Kalotina; and Corridor VII: Danube river).

The project objectives will be achieved through improvements of buildings, facilities and infrastructure of border crossings points and modernization of border agencies equipment, through modernization of communication systems for exchange of information between border authorities, as well as by means of enhancing the co-ordination and co-operation among stakeholders.

The project includes four components: Component 1 "Improvement of physical capacity and working conditions at selected European Union external border crossings with particular focus on the Trans-European Transport Network"; Component 2 "Construction of the access road to Kapitan Andreevo border crossing point"; Component 3 "Enhancing sharing of border crossing data and streamlining operational procedures of border crossing agencies"; and Component 4 "Capacity building and support to project implementation".
