One-desk service for parcels’ processing to be launched as of January 25

One-desk service will be launched for the release of parcel posts will be launched as pilot project as of January 25, 2010. This is what Customs Agency director Vanyo Tanov and Bulgarian Post CEO Milen Keremedchiev agreed in the frames of a work meeting, held on Thursday.
This is the first step towards the establishment of a National center for special processing of international incoming parcels.
The National center will start working in three months. The next three months before the official opening will be spent for solving some logistic issues and details that will ease citizens' service as much as possible. At the center, officers with the Bulgarian Posts and the Customs agency will process the parcels together and then refer them to the post offices in the country.
The pilot project for introduction of one-desk service will kick off on January 25 at the head office of Sofia Customs. All postal packages will be processed at one single desk.
Parcels from third countries, sent by juridical person to physical or juridical person, worth between EUR 30 - EUR 250 (which are VAT free), will be processed under facilitated procedure, as the VAT will be calculated in the import receipt.
Parcels charged with VAT and customs duty will be processed under the current procedure, requiring a customs declaration and an EORI number, but the service will be also done at one desk.
