Customs inspectors at the Malko Tarnovo customs checkpoint seized 27,500 parts for cigarettes of the Golden Filter and Masters brands in the frames of a check-up on a tourist bus with Bulgarian registration. The bus was travelling from Bulgaria to Turkey.
The driver and all passengers explained that they do not carry anything that should be declared before the customs authorities.
The thorough customs check-up, however, discovered four plastic bags full of cigarette's pre-preproduction parts, hidden in the luggage grid.
The items are manufactured empty cigarettes with filters, which are supposed to be filled in with loose tobacco.
All the items have been confiscate. A statement over violation under the Customs Act has been drawn and the case has been referred to the authorities in charge - police and the prosecution office.
Apart from the above-mentioned case, customs inspectors at the Lesovo and Malko Tarnovo customs checkpoints have hampered a total of 11 cases of cigarettes smuggling from Turkey over the Easter holiday. Authorities seized 27,100 pieces (1,355 boxes) of cigarettes of different brads with a ‘for duty free sale only' stamp.
