Customs officers bust scheme for fake vignette stickers sale abroad

2010-08-09

3 Bulgarians have been detained with more than 100 fake vignette stickers by Turkish authorities, which responded to a signal sent by Bulgarian customs, the National Customs Agency informs.
In the frames of a check-up at the Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint, Bulgarian customs officers detected two cases of incoming vehicles with fake vignette stickers. The cars were owned by Turkish nationals, living in West Europe. It was ascertained that the stickers were bought from one and the same place in Turkey, close to the border.
Customs Svilengrad, Bulgaria, sent a signal to the Turkish police, which checked up the area where drivers said they bought the vignette stickers.
Turkish police arrested 3 Bulgarians, who were carrying more than 100 fake vignette stickers, which they planned to sell at a twice higher price - EUR 10, instead of BGN 10.
Investigation on the case continues.
