Customs officials at Svilengrad prevented shipment of waste batteries and vegetable fats

Customs officers detected unregulated transportation of used batteries near Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint on August 31, the National Customs Agency announced. Batteries are transported in a minivan driven by a Bulgarian citizen traveling from Italy to Bulgaria. The amount of the illegal goods is 177 batteries with a total weight of 2609 kg. Batteries were not accompanied by commercial transport documents / shipments of waste-notification under the provisions of Commission Regulation / EC / № 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and the Council of 24 June 2006 on shipment of waste.
On 01.09.2010 again at Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint customs officers detected an illegal shipment of waste vegetable oils. The goods were transported in a van driven by a Bulgarian citizen traveling from Greece to Bulgaria. Recipient is a company in the town of Plovdiv. The seized quantity of the waste vegetable oil is 3,000 liters. Waste products were not accompanied by commercial transport documents for the notification of cross-border movements / shipments of waste-notification under the provisions of Regulation № 1013/2006 of the European Parliament and the Council of 24 June 2006.
