Customs officers at Lesovo hamper two cigarette smuggling attempts

Customs officers at Lesovo customs checkpoint hampered two attempts of cigarettes smuggling. Some 6,800 pieces or 340 boxes of cigarettes of six different brands, all without excise stamp have been found and confiscated.
The cigarettes were found in secret compartments of two vehicles with Bulgarian and Romanian registration, traveling from Turkey to Bulgaria overnight.
In the fist case customs officers found 200 boxes of cigarettes of the Karela, Eva Slims and Golden Gates brands brands, hidden the fabric cavities of car's (Renault Megan with Bulgarian registration) floor. The driver was drawn a statement of violation under the Customs Act.
Other 140 boxes of cigarettes of the brands Kent, LM, Muratti and Golden State have been confiscated from the coupe and under the seats of a Mercedes with Romanian registration, driven by a Turkish national, who has been imposed sanction for customs violation.
In both cases the cigarettes were stamped with a ‘for duty free sale only' label.
