Mini-bus with fake cigarettes seized at Danube Bridge

Officers with the Customs Intelligence and Investigation unit with Customs Ruse and the Regional Directorate for Combating Organized Crime seized 820,000 pieces or some 82 master-boxes of fake cigarettes at Danube Bridge, the National Customs Agency announced.
The cigarettes were transported by a freight mini-bus with a Romanian registration, driven by a Romanian national.
The cigarettes were hidden among shipment of red peppers. The driver of the mini-bus was arrested, while the shipment confiscated.
The harm caused to the state budget from the unpaid excise duty on the cigarettes is estimated at BGN 230,000.
