Some 27,800 pieces /1,390 boxes/ of smuggled cigarettes have been seized hidden in a mini-bus at the Malko Tarnovo customs checkpoint.
The VM Transporter mini-bus was traveling from Turkey to Bulgaria, driven by a Romanian national, granted with a warrant from an attorney for the possession of the vehicle - a family from the Bulgarian town of Dobrich.
The driver and the two other Romanians in the mini-bus said they have nothing to declare before the customs. After a thorough check-up, customs inspectors found a secret compartment in the vehicle, where the smuggled cigarettes were hidden.
The cigarettes are of the Ashima brand.
