Customs officers at Malko Tarnovo, Lesovo checkpoints hamper 5 smuggling attempts


Customs officers at Malko Tarnovo and Lesovo customs checkpoints hampered 5 smuggling attempts over the past 24 hours and confiscated some 16,600 pieces (830 boxes) of cigarettes without excise stamps, 111 perfumes of popular brands and 15 pairs of jeans of the D&G brand.
Authorities have drawn 5 statements of violations under the Customs Act.
Some 13,4000 pieces (670 boxes) of illegal cigarettes have been seized at Malko Tarnovo checkpoint during a check on two passenger's buses entering the territory of the country from Turkey, transporting Romanian tourists. In both cases the cigarettes were found in the personal hand-luggage of passengers, put in black plastic bags, wrapped in bath gowns.
Authorities also found perfumes of 22 different popular brands, such as "Paco Rabanne", "Armani", "Chanel", "Kenzo", " Lancome", "Hugo Boss" and others. The perfumes were found in the luggage transported by the Romanian buses during an x-ray check.
15 pairs of jeans of the D&G brand were found and confiscated at Lesovo checkpoint. The items are believed to be fake. They were found during a check on a freight truck, driven by a Turkish national.
In another check on a freight vehicle customs officers at Lesovo checkpoint found some 3,200 pieces (160 boxes) of smuggled Karelia and EVA Slims cigarettes.
