Large amount of cigarettes seized in Kapitan Petko Voyvoda customs area

Large amount of boxes of illegal cigarettes were seized by customs officers at Svilengrad Customs Office. Duty customs officers found the cigarettes in a refrigerated truck with Hungarian license driven by a Hungarian driver. According to documents the truck should be transporting oranges from Greece to Romania. When crossing through Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint the truck was selected for check, it was scanned after which customs officers suspected that the cargo does not meet the accompanying documents, together with the Border Police the truck was escorted to Kaptain Andreevo Customs Office for a thorough customs inspection. After unloading the freezer truck customs officers found that oranges are only 16 pallets and are used as cover. The rest of the cargo compartment was filled with 801 cardboard boxes of smuggled cigarettes with 250 boxes each.
