Smuggled children’s clothes seized at Lesovo checkpoint

Customs officers at the Lesovo customs checkpoint have seized 1,245 sets of baby and children's clothes during a check on a heavy-freight TIR truck with foreign registration. The truck was travelling from Turkey to Russia through Bulgaria.
The smuggled clothes were found in the driver's cabin. The check was initiated at a signal sent by border police.
The driver, a 33-year-old Moldovan national with initials F.S., has been drawn a statement for violation under the Customs Act.
Customs officers at Lesovo and Malko Tarnovo checkpoints have foiled five smuggling attempts - consumer goods, cigarettes and tobacco products.
Some 11.200 kilos of handrolling tobacco and 4,180 pieces of cigarettes without excise stamp have been seized by customs authorities.
The cigarettes were found in two cars with Bulgarian registration, entering the territory of Bulgaria from Turkey through the Lesovo checkpoint, while the tobacco - in a tourist bus.
