Customs seize cigarettes from nine passengers on same flight

Customs officials have seized more than 150,000 cigarettes and €11,500 in cash at Dublin Airport, Irish Times reported.
The cash and 24,400 cigarettes were seized from one 30-year-old Moldovan national who had flown from Moldova via Frankfurt.
The rest of the cigarettes were seized when officers searched eight other passengers on the same flight.
The cigarettes have a retail value of more than €66,000 and represent a potential loss to the Exchequer of almost €60,000.
In a separate operation carried out on Friday, 200 kilogrammes of tobacco was seized when officers searched cargo that had arrived at Dublin Airport from China.
