Customs Ruse reports first case of customs investigation

Customs Ruse (North Bulgaria) reported its first case of customs investigation, five days after the new authorities came into force.
On January 5, 2012 customs authorities stopped for a check a Romanian bus at the Danube Bridge border checkpoint. The bus was travelling from Athens to Bucharest. During the check the customs officers found 191 boxes of cigarettes of different brands (Gold Mount and G.D.), all without excise stamps.
The smuggled cigarettes were transported by a 22-year-old Romanian national.
A pre-court proceeding has been initiated. An investigating customs officers continues working on the case.
