4 million pieces of smuggled cigarettes seized at Kulata checkpoint

Four million pieces of illegal cigarettes were seized yesterday by the customs officers at the Kulata checkpoint during a check on a goods wagon.
The shipment came from Greece and was aimed for a Bulgarian company. It was declared as detergents put in bags.
During the check the customs officers opened the big-bags, which turned to be full of marble flour, in which there were cartons of cigarettes wrapped in foil.
Authorities discovered large amount of smuggled cigarettes - 4 million pieces.
The case is similar to two other seizures made by the customs authorities in June 2011, when they busted two containers full of smuggled cigarettes hidden in pearlite. Back then customs officers seized nearly 1,900 master-cases of cigarettes.
