Romanian smugglers’ bus become municipal mourning-coach in Ruse

Romanian mini-van, used by Romanian smugglers to transport cigarettes and alcohol, was given to the Customs Ruse to serve the needs of municipality of Slivo Pole and will be transformed into a mourning-coach. The vehicle was given to the use of the municipality at the order of Finance Minister Simeon Dyankov and was handed by the chief of the Customs Ruse to the Mayor of Slivo Pole, Georgi Golemanski.
The vehicle was detained at the Danube Bridge checkpoint on June 8, together with the two passengers - Romanian nationals. Authorities found 2,189 boxes of cigarettes without Bulgarian excise stamp and with a ‘duty-free' label.
