Customs officers seize 3,999 boxes of smuggled cigarettes at Kapitan Petko Voyvoda checkpoint

Customs officers with the Customs - Sliven seized some 79,800 pieces of illegal cigarettes at the Kapitan Petko Voyvoda border checkpoint in a check carried out in cooperation with the Border Police.
The cigarettes were found in a car with Bulgarian registration travelling from Greece to Bulgaria.
On the night of May 24 the customs officers on duty noticed large amount of cigarettes scattered around in a car passing through the checkpoint. In a following thorough check authorities found a hiding compartment behind the back seat of the car. The total amount of the confiscated cigarettes is 3,990 boxes.
The driver told the customs officers that he had purchased the cigarettes in Thessaloniki.
