Customs officers at the Kulata checkpoint selected a pick-up truck arriving from Greece for a thorough customs check. The vehicle was with a license plate from the Bulgarian district of Blagoevgrad and was driven by a Bulgarian citizen from the town of Pernik. During the check customs authorities detected a double bottom inside the vehicle where they found some 134,000 pieces of smuggled cigarettes (Voxx and Ruby), all without excise stamps.
The case has been referred to the customs investigation unit.
