Corruption signals at Bulgarian border checkpoints halved this summer

Signals for corruption at the Bulgarian border checkpoints and for illegal actions in the traffic control were cut by half during the summer season, the press office of the Bulgarian Interior Ministry announced. The figures were compared to the reports of the analyses of the Inspectorate Directorate for 2011.
Measures taken during the summer season /July 1 - September 30/ were focused on not allowing corruption practices on behalf of Interior Ministry officers during tourists' crossing the border checkpoints and during checks on traffic movement and safety.
Some 21 signals were received in the abovementioned period - 3 were connected to officers with the General Directorate of Border Police in charge of the passports control; while 21 - to police officers in connection to the control exerted under the Road Traffic Act. Lat year, there were 41 signals for the same time period.
