Investigating inspectors with the Customs Ruse seized 2,020 pieces of cigarettes without excise stamps at a house located close to the Cooperative Market in the city of Ruse. According to the received information, the family living in the house used to supply retail traders at the market with illegal cigarettes. Authorities raised the house on Monday night and found two bags full of 101 boxes of cigarette. A 57-year-old woman claimed the responsibility and ownership of the cigarettes. Her ex-husband, who was also in the house, turned to be an old "acquaintance" of the local customs authorities.
The value of the cigarettes is estimated at around BGN 760, while the due excise duty on them amounts to around BGN 350.
