Bulgaria customs bust nearly 38,000 pieces of cigarettes

Bulgarian customs officers with Customs Svishtov seized some 38,000 pieces of illegal cigarettes, or 1,889 boxes, in just a couple of days within join checks carried out with officers with the Bulgarian Interior Ministry.
The owners of the cigarettes, in all different cases, are private persons.
Some 27,380 pieces (1,369 boxes) of illicit cigarettes of different brands were found at private homes. The bigger part of the illegal tobacco products were found in two separate raids in the village of Bukovlak, municipality of Pleven, while the rest - in a house in the town of Veliko Tarnovo.
Other 520 boxes were busted by officers with the Customs Bureau Gabrovo, in cooperation with the police. The cigarettes were found in two passenger's suitcases, which a person was carrying in the region of the bus station.
The total amount of cigarettes seized during the checks of Customs Svishtov is 37,780 pieces or 1,889 boxes.
Meanwhile, customs officers from the Customs Plovdiv, busted 4,120 pieces (260 boxes) of cigarettes of different brands, all without excise stamps, at a store selling tobacco products.
