The Turkish Ministry of Customs and Trade advised Turkish citizens from European countries to avoid crossing Kapakule checkpoint on the Bulgarian border in the weekend.
The press release reads as follows: There is general reconstruction of the Bulgarian customs checkpoint Kapitan Andreevo and the border checkpoint there will work with reduced capacity. Besides Bulgarian border authorities exerts scrutiny checks for illegal human trafficking at the checkpoint, which additionally hampers traffic flow through the border and causes formation of long lines of vehicles at Kapakule checkpoint. Turkish authorities recommend passengers to use other border checkpoints on the Turkish-Bulgarian border such as Hamzabeili-Lesovo and Derekyoi-Malko Tarnovo.
