Bulgarian-French meeting evaluates highly good cooperation between the customs administrations


A bilateral meeting between the management of the Bulgarian National Customs Agency (NCA) and high-ranking officials with the French National Directorate of the Intelligence and Customs Investigations (DNRED) was held at the head office of the Central Customs Directorate in the Bulgarian capital city Sofia on October 28, 2013.
France was represented by Vincent Sauvalère, customs operations director at DNREDS, David Pettit, head of the unit for analysis on cigarettes and tobacco trafficking at DNRED, and Pierre Salducci, attaché at the French Embassy to Sofia in charge of the customs affairs.
Bulgaria, on the other hand, was represented by Kiril Zhelev, NCA Director, Nikolay Popov, deputy director of the customs administration, Marina Popova, international relations director, and Sergey Nakov, director of the Customs Intelligence and Investigation Directorate.
At the meeting the parties involved evaluated highly the good cooperation between the customs administrations of the two countries. The delegations discussed issues of mutual interest and expressed a wish to strengthen the exchange of information in the field of the fight against cigarettes, tobacco and drugs smuggling, as well as the fight against customs frauds.
The two countries also outlined concrete measures in terms of the participation in joint operations and projects.
