Customs officers at Lesovo checkpoint seize 300,000 pieces of smuggled cigarettes

Customs officers at the Lesovo checkpoint seized some 300,000 pieces of smuggled cigarettes from a mini-van with Moldovan registration.
The freight vehicle was driven by a Moldovan citizen of Bulgarian origin. The driver declared a shipment of parcels with commercial goods, food products, detergents and other.
A thorough check on the mini-van, however, detected a double bottom inside the vehicle, which was full of 30 master-boxes with a total of 15,000 boxes of Ashima cigarettes, all with a duty-free sign.
The market value of the seized cigarettes is estimated at BGN 112,500.
The seizure was realised in cooperation with a mobile customs group with the Central Customs Directorate and with the assistance of Border Police.
