Bulgarian customs officers at the Malko Tarnovo checkpoint Friday busted some 510 smuggled cell phones from a car with Bulgarian registration.
The car was travelling from Bulgaria to Turkey. The vehicle was selected for a thorough customs check in cooperation between border police and customs officers.
Authorities searched the car and found the smuggled goods hidden under the car seats and in the space designed for the spare tire.
The driver of the car is a Bulgarian national, aged 37, from the coastal city of Burgas.
A pre-court proceeding has been initiated on the case.
