Rousse customs officials captured 18 kg of heroin in Turkish TIR with tomatoes

Rousse customs officials captured 18 kilograms of heroin hidden in Turkish TIR. The drug was distributed in 35 packages hidden in the luggage of the driver and in different places in the driver's cabin.

The truck was intercepted on the track "Exit" on the Danube Bridge border checkpoint on Monday at about 11 am. According to the documents TIR is carrying vegetables for Austria and France. Customs officer verified the driver's cabin. 11 package, covered with brown sticky tape were found in the luggage of the driver. The truck was immediately directed to the X-ray scanning equipment. Customs investigator and prosecutor were immediately informed about the case. There was a detailed check in specialized customs hall. 22 more package covered with brown sticky tape were found in the cavities of the cab. Other two packages were found in the refrigerator of the cabin. The total amount of packets contained in the substance is 17.949 kg. Substance reacted to heroin when initially made narkotest. According to preliminary data the value of the amount seized over 1.6 million levs.

Turkish TIR driver was arrested. It began an investigation in connection with drug trafficking.
