The customs officials of Svilengrad Customs House seized over 4,2 million peaces of smuggled cigarettes



4 255 000 peaces of illegal cigarettes, 6901 smuggled toilet waters and perfumes, and a big quantity of textile products (jackets, blouses/tops, sports outfits, jeans, etc.), infringing intellectual property rights, were seized by the customs officials of Svilengrad Customs House.

Around 10:30 PM on September 9th 2014, in the area of BCP Kapitan Petko Voivoda, a freight vehicle "Iveco" with an attached to it semi-trailer was stopped for a customs check. The truck was travelling from Turkey to Latvia, through Greece and Bulgaria and was driven by a Bulgarian citizen. The driver has submitted documents only for the official conveyed good - textile products. The x-ray inspection ascertained toilet waters and illegal cigarettes, stashed behind a "wall" of textile goods.

4 255 000 peaces (212 750 packs) of smuggled cigarettes were seized. 212 250 packs were from the brand "Ashima Luxury Size" and the other 500 were from the brand "Marble Filter De Luxe King Size".

The customs officials also found 6 901 illegal toilet waters and perfumes from different brands.

The investigation is continuing and there was a pretrial procedure initiated on the case.
