Customs officers at the Kapitan Andreevo BCP found smuggled cigarettes in cartons for coffee

The cigarettes were found in a car entering the country from Turkey. BMW car, driven by 22-year-old man, a Bulgarian citizen, traveling with his mother, was selected for detailed check. The inspection established that the luggage compartment of the car has cartons for packaged coffee "3 in 1", but instead of coffee customs officials found cigarettes "Ashima", "Karelia slims" and "Assos slims" without excise labels. Some more cigarettes and smoking tobacco were found in both front fenders. The total amount of cigarettes was 17 000 pieces and total amount smoking tobacco was 12 kg.

The driver was arrested. Pre-trial proceedings have been initiated into the case.

 More two pre-trial proceedings were initiated by customs officers. In one case customs officers found 500 boxes of cigarettes without excise labels in the luggage of a Romanian citizen, traveling by bus from Turkey to Romania. Two hours later were seized 420 boxes of cigarettes without excise labels. The cigarettes were found in the luggage of Bulgarian citizen, traveling by bus from Turkey to Bulgaria.
