Heroin for quarter-million BGN was discovered and seized by the customs officials at Kapitan Andreevo BCP

On February 4-th 2015, at Kapitan Andreevo BCP, the customs officials of Svilengrad Customs House selected for a customs check an entering the country Audi automobile with Bulgarian License Plates and driven by a Bulgarian citizen. During the detailed customs inspection was ascertained that the driver had carried an elastic belt around his waist, under which the customs officials found two oblong plastic packages, contained beige powder. It was later proved that the substance inside the two packages was heroin with a total quantity of 2.098 kg, which as per court valuation rates is estimated at quarter-million BGN.

A Pre-trial procedure was initiated and the violator was detained by officers of State Agency for National Security for a period of 24 hours. During the investigative actions, taken by the authorities of State Agency for National Security was ascertained that the same person was taking part of a group, dealing with heroin trafficking. The drugs should have been conveyed from Turkey through Greece, and then to be delivered for sale in Italy.

The one of the organizers of the heroin distribution scheme - a Turkish citizen, living in San Marino, was also found and detained for a period of 24 hours on a territory of Haskovo.
