Nearly 8000 packs of smuggled cigarettes were found in a passenger bus by the customs officials of Kapitan Andreevo BCP



A passenger bus with a roof, full of smuggled cigarettes, was seized by the customs officials at Kapitan Andreevo BCP. The vehicle was driven by a Bulgarian citizen and was traveling from Turkey to Bulgaria. After the bus arrived at the Kapitan Andreevo BCP, it was selected for a detailed customs inspection. During the search of the vehicle, the customs officials discovered 7907 packs (158 140 pieces) of illegal "MM" cigarettes, hidden in cavities of the bus roof. The appraisement of the cigarettes, which were found, is in amount of BGN 35 581. The prevention of excise tax losses is estimated at BGN 24 155.

All the cigarettes were seized. A Pre-trial procedure was initiated by a customs investigation officer of Svilengrad Customs House.

The customs officials at Kapitan Andreevo BCP, during two other inspections of trucks with Bulgarian License Plates, found and seized 1660 packs (32 000 pieces) of smuggled cigarettes. The cigarettes were hidden in different spots in the vehicles.

Only for the first five days of august, 20 286 packs (405 720 pieces) of smuggled cigarettes were seized at Kapitan Andreevo BCP.
