Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP found golden treasure in Turkish bus

Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP found golden jewelries for more than a quarter million BGN hidden in a special prepared concealment in bus. The bus with Turkish registration traveled from Turkey to Serbia. Passengers did not declare any goods precious metals and currency but customs officers selected the bus for a detailed check. During the inspection of the engine compartment, under the air conditioning compressor, in special prepared concealment the customs officers found a real golden treasure. Customs officers found out packages of jewelries with a total weight of 4.887 kg. According to the expert estimation jewelries are of 14 carat gold worth BGN 263 898. The total number of the jewelries consists of 1167 earrings, 480 rings, 98 bracelets, 174 chains, 156 medallions and 26 necklaces.

The jewelries and the bus were seized. The driver was issued citations for violation of the Foreign Exchange Act.  A pre-court proceeding was initiated on the case.
