A distribution channel for sale of illegal spirit in Greece was revealed and stopped

10 000 liters of 96, 2 % vol. ethyl alcohol was seized by customs and border police officials at Kulata BCP. The whole amount of the ethyl spirit was found in a truck, which was officially transporting timber to Greece. During the X-ray inspection of the vehicle, the customs officials ascertained the presence of 10 one-ton containers which had been hidden behind the pallets with timber. Each container contained 1000 liters of illegal 96, 2 % vol. ethyl alcohol. The owed excise duty for this amount of spirit is BGN 105 820.

The followed collaborative investigation between the customs authorities and the bodies of Ministry of Interior in Blagoevgrad and Sofia ascertained and revealed all legal entities and natural persons participated in the above mentioned illegal distribution chain.

An Administrative Offence Act was drawn up. For the crime of that type the Law stipulates a sanction, which would be above BGN 210 000.
