Customs officials discovered over 6,5 tons of marked gas oil near Vidin

Customs officials of "Customs Intelligence and Investigation" department to Lom Customs House seized 6530 liters of marked gas oil in Vidin area. The fuel was found during an inspection in a garage and offices owned by a local company. The customs officials ascertained that the marked gas oil was mixed with recycled motor oil in order the marker to be effaced. The fuel was being stored in 1-ton tanks. The fuel mixture will be tested in a laboratory for analysis.

The now existing law foresees a reduced rate of excise duty in amount of BGN 50 per ton marked fuel, meant for heating and bunkering. There is an excise duty for gas oil used as motor fuel and it is in amount of BGN 645 for 1000 liters. The Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act, in case of misuse or improper use of marked fuel, foresees a sanction in amount of from BGN 5000 to 10 000 for legal persons and sole traders, and in the event of a repeat offence - from BGN 10 000 to 50 000.
