Customs Officers found 4077 boxes of cigarettes in a truck with hazelnuts

Bulgarian customs officers in Burgas seized 4077 boxes of cigarettes without excise stamp and machine for key rings from a truck with foreign registration, traveling from Georgia to Bulgaria. The truck has arrived in port of Burgas by ferry from Georgia. The driver was declared that the truck carry 20 packages of nuts hazelnuts. The vehicle has been selected for a detailed check by the customs officers from drug enforcement department in Customs Burgas. When scanning the truck with a specialized X-ray system, customs officers have found secret compartment in the truck with 4077 boxes of cigarettes brand "Winston" and disassembled parts of machine to produce key chains with logos of world famous automobile brands, including BMW, Renault and others. The contraband cigarettes and the machine were seized. A stratement for violation of the law on Customs was issued against the driver of the truck - Spanish citizen from Armenian origin. The work on the case continues. In compliance with EU Regulation №608/2013 and the Law on Brands and Geographic indications the case will be assigned to right owners of the relevant trademarks.
