Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP found smuggling currency for more than 160 000 BGN in a car "Audi"



Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP seized 82 230 undeclared euros during a detailed customs check of a car "Audi A5" with foreign registration, traveling from Bulgaria to Turkey. The car was driving a foreign citizen, accompanied by two passengers, also foreign citizens. They stated that they do not carry currency or commercial goods to declare. During the customs check, Customs officers found € 70 530 in denominations of  50, 100 and 500 euros, hidden in a leather bag under the front seat of the car and briefcase owned by one of the passengers.  Another € 11 700 was found in pockets on the clothes of the second passenger in the car. Both violators have not indicated logical explanation for the currency. A pre-court proceeding was initiated against the first violator who tried to carry 70 530 undeclared euros. The second violator was sanctioned according to the Monetary Law. The smuggling currency of a total € 82,230 (equivalent to BGN 160 829) was seized.  The work on the case continues.
