Customs Officers seized over 33 kg of heroin in joint operation

Bulgarian Customs officers seized 33,253 kg of heroin at the Kapitan Andreevo checkpoint. The heroin in 64 packages was found in a bread machine at a customs inspection with X-ray equipment of the bus, traveling from Turkey to Bulgaria. In a joint operation of the Customs Agency, Ministry of Interior and Prosecutor's Office were arrested at the bus station in the town of Haskovo the recipients of the machine with heroin -two Bulgarian citizens. Heroin was destined for Western Europe- It was reported at a briefing for journalists by the Chief Secretary of the Ministry of Interior- Chief Commissar Georgi Kostov. Pre-trial proceedings have been instituted on the case.
