Illegal import of 22 tons livers of Italy was averted

On July 21, officers of the Interdepartmental Coordination Center for Counteracting smuggling and control of the movement of risky goods and cargoes discovered case of illegal entry in the country of 22 000 kg frozen liver from Italy. This animal production had to be destroyed on the orders of the Italian authorities.
Announced for international search loading composition with British registration number, loaded with the goods was found in a parking lot near Plovdiv Customs House. The driver of the vehicle was 56-year-old man with Bulgarian and Turkish citizenship.
On July 22, officers of Customs Agency and Bulgarian Agency for Food Safety have taken administrative measures for the seizure and destruction of the liver at the rendering plant.
Regional Prosecutor's Office - Plovdiv has been informed about the case.
