Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP found nearly one kilogram of gold for over BGN 50 000


Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP found smuggled gold jewelry worth BGN 55 687 at six separate cases in recent days.
Customs officers found 661.45 g gold jewelry in five cases in the course of a personal examination of three ladies and two men travelers from Turkey to Bulgaria. During the inspection in two men, Bulgarian citizens, the customs officers found hidden in the briefs of the men five plastic packages with the products yellow metal. During the inspection in the three ladies, Bulgarian citizens, and one lady, Romanian citizen, customs officers found gold jewelry, also hidden in the bikini and in the bra. According to available expertise the gold with a total weight 661.45 g is of 14 carats gold worth BGN 39 687.
In the sixth case the jewelry was found in the lady, traveled in Bulgarian car, „Mercedes" Е220, entering the country from Turkey. The driver and the lady did not declare any goods precious metals or currency. Customs officers selected the car for a detailed check. During the inspection the customs officers found hidden in the glove box of the car and rear armrest gold bracelets and necklaces. According to the expert estimation gold jewelry were with a total of 265 g are worth BGN 16 000.
The smuggled gold jewelry were confiscated. The three ladys and two men were sanctioned according to the Monetary Law.
