Over 23 000 liters of alcohol was seized by the customs officers of Stolichna Customs House

Four of ten inspections conducted by the Bulgarian customs administration end up with ascertainment of violation of the Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act.

The customs officers of Stolichna Customs House seized 22 940 liters of illegal spirit and 1159 liters of illegal alcohol in the area of the village of Kazichene during an inspection of a warehouse which had no license for excise goods trade and storage. 22 one-ton tanks containing 96 degrees ethyl alcohol (spirit) were found in the warehouse. A total amount of 20 700 liters of illegal spirit was seized from the tanks and 2240 more liters of spirit was seized from tubes prepared for expedition and distribution which were also found in the same depository. While continuing to inspect the warehouse, the customs officers discovered also 1159 bottles of illegal alcohol - "Jack Daniel`s" whiskey, "Absolute" vodka and anisette. That makes the total amount of the illegal alcohol seized over 23 000 liters.

According to analyses of the National Customs Agency of the Republic of Bulgaria, the inspections of warehouses which had no license for excise goods trade and storage conducted within the period January-July 2016, ascertained violations in over 40% of the cases. Four of ten inspections conducted by the Bulgarian customs administration end up with an Administrative Offence Act composition or a Pre-trial procedure.

For the period January-July 2016 Bulgarian Customs Agency has seized over 100 000 liters of illegal alcohol beverages, as well as 37,5 million pieces of cigarettes, 38 600 kg of tobacco and 306 195 liters of energy drinks.
