Customs and border officers of Kulata checkpoint seized over 26 kilograms of cocaine

26,113 kilograms of cocaine were seized by Customs and border officers at Kulata checkpoint. The value of cocaine is about 5 million BGN, prices of the judiciary. The drug was found in specially built secret compartments of a truck, carrying the fitness equipment from Spain to Bulgaria. The truck was selected for detailed check by a joint team of customs and border officers to combat smuggling. The secret compartments with cocaine were found during a customs inspection of the vehicle with a mobile X-ray machine. The cocaine was hidden in packages, wrapped in foil and placed in cans, placed in secret compartments in factory cavities.

The driver of the truck, a Bulgarian citizen, was detained for 72 hours. A pre-court proceeding was initiated on the case under the supervision of Blagoevgrad District Prosecutor's Office.

This is the fourth case of arrested cocaine recently. The total amount of cocaine seized since the beginning of the year is about 56 kg. Detained by Customs Agency quantity of heroin this year is 316 kg.
