Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo seized smuggled gold and silver jewelry nearly BGN 52 000



In two inspections customs mobile groups seized  a total of 1931.9 g gold and silver jewelry nearly BGN  52,000.

During the inspection in a bus customs officers found 1243.3 g jewelry. The driver and passengers did not declare any goods, precious metals or currency. Customs officers selected the bus for detained check. The inspection found that in the luggage of lady, Moldovan citizen, were concealed plastic bags with undeclared 150 rings, 18 chains of 12 medallions, 174 rings and 24 bracelets. According to the expert estimation gold jewelry  were with a total weight of  789 kg are worth BGN 47,340.  In the luggage of woman customs officers found more 125 medallions, 10 earrings, 30 brooches, 6 bracelets  and 4 rings and the chain, which according to expertise are 925 sterling silver with a total weight of 454.30 grams, worth BGN 1817.20.The smuggled gold jewelry were confiscated. A pre-court proceeding has been initiated in the case.

Just a day earlier when checking another bus  customs mobile groups found hidden in a luggage  and upper arms of  the lady,  Romanian citizen, 179 silver  jewelry weighing a total of 688.60 grams of around BGN 2,800 .
