Customs officers at Lesovo found smuggled pesticides in a passenger bus

Customs officers at Lesovo customs checkpoint found 499 liters and 25 kg of smuggled plant protection chemicals in a passenger bus, traveling from Turkey to Bulgaria. The violator is a Bulgarian citizen. Customs inspectors at Lesovo BCP and a customs mobile group have checked the bus and passengers' baggage. Customs officers found during the inspection at the rear of the passenger compartment of the bus black bags containing 354 cans and 25 packages with a total of 499 liters and 25 kg of undeclared plant protection chemicals from 6 different brands, produced in Turkey and banned for import into Bulgaria and the EU. The pesticides are of a passenger in the bus- Bulgarian citizen with residence in Targovishte. A statement for violation of the Law on Customs was issued against the passenger. The contraband pesticides were seized and subject to destruction.
