Customs officers at Lesovo found smuggled pesticides


Customs officers at Lesovo customs checkpoint found 185 liters and 88,5 kg of smuggled plant protection chemicals in a van with Bulgarian registration, traveling from Turkey to Bulgaria.

The driver of the van said that does not bring anything to declare. During a customs inspection, customs officers found in the cargo compartment of the van black bags filled with 250 packs containing a total of 185 liters and 88.5 kg of undeclared pesticides from five different brands - produced in Turkey and banned for import into Bulgaria and the EU.

 A statement for violation of the Law on Customs was issued against the violator Bulgarian citizen. The contraband pesticides were seized and subject to destruction.

A total of 960 liters and 308.5 kg of pesticides were seized by customs officers at Lesovo customs checkpoint from the beginning of March. The pesticides were found during a detailed check of two vans, a car and a bus with passengers. The violators are Bulgarian citizens.
