Customs officers at Kapitan Andreevo BCP seized over 2 kg smuggled gold jewelry

Customs officers found 2287.36 g gold jewelry worth BGN 137 241.6 in Romanian car, entering the country from Turkey. In the car traveled man and woman, Romanian citizens, who said they did not declare any goods, precious metals and currency. Customs officers selected the car for thorough check. In the course of a personal examination of the man customs officers found in body and his clothing nine packages wrapped in yellow tape filled with articles of yellow metal. Six of the packages were found wrapped around the chest, the other two- hidden in socks and ninth package was found in the pocket of his pants. The package customs officers found 164 pairs of earrings, 113 ring, 123 pendant, 70 bracelets, and 149 of chains and 25 pieces red and black threads with gold and pendants on them. According to available expertise the gold were with a total weight of the 1 914.480 g of 14 carats gold are worth BGN 114 868.8.

A pre-court proceeding has been initiated in the case.

In the course of a personal examination of the woman customs officers found hidden in the bra and pants pocket made of yellow metal. According to available expertise the gold with a total weight of the 372.880 g of 14 carats gold nearly BGN 22 372.8 .  A statement for violation of the Monetary Law was issued against the woman.

The smuggled gold jewelry were confiscated.
