Georgi Kostov takes the helm of the National Customs Agency


As of today, May 11, 2017 Mr. Georgi Kostov has been appointed Director General of the National Customs Agency. He takes over from Ms. Rozalia Dimitrova, who will stay with the customs administration as Director of a Directorate. Mr. Georgi Kostov has a longstanding experience at the Ministry of Interior that will enable the successful organizing, management and reporting of the activities of the customs administration.

Mr. Georgi Kostov was born on April 7, 1967 in Haskovo. He graduated as engineer from the Technical University in Sofia in 1992. Between 1993 and 1998 Mr. Kostov worked as intelligence officer and inspector at District Police Department № 9 in Sofia. In 1999 he was appointed head of the "Serious Crime" group. Between 2002 and 2009, Mr. Kostov worked at the "Crimes against the Person" Sector with the Sofia Metropolitan Directorate of Interior. From September 2011 to July 2014 he served as Director of the Blagoevgrad Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior and in the period August - November 2014 - as Director of the Bourgas Regional Directorate of the Ministry of Interior. In November 2014, Mr. Kostov was appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Interior to be promoted to Secretary General in March 2015.
