Customs officers detained 1658 liters of alcohol at two inspections in the Black Sea area



1658 liters of alcohol, traded and stored in violation of the Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act, were detained by customs officers during inspections in the Black Sea region for two days. Two separate checks were carried out - at a hotel and in a restaurant with a tax warehouse.

On 13.08.2017 a customs mobile group checks a warehouse on the ground floor of a hotel in a resort complex. There customs officers find 24 plastic cans with a capacity of 10 liters. The tubs were filled with a total of 240 liters of different alcoholic beverages. The owner of the warehouse has not submitted documents within the meaning of the Excise Duties and Tax Warehouses Act. An administrative criminal proceedings will be instituted in connection with the violation.

On 14.08.2017 a customs mobile group checks at a restaurant in the Pomorie area. Entering the site customs officials interrupt the deal where a citizen buys 20 liters of rakia. Another 75 liters of rakias were found in the room. Alcohol was distributed in 3 and 5 liter tubes. Customs officers set up a taxi truck loaded with 40 liters of the same rakia in the tubes. In the subsequent inspection of the tax warehouse, another 2566 bottles of half a liter of different types of alcohol were found in the room. An administrative criminal proceeding  is to be instituted on the case.

For 45 days (in the period 01.07-15.08.2017) customs mobile groups carried out more than 80 inspections on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast in connection with the intensified measures against the trade and supply of illegal excise goods. 30% of inspections completed with findings of violations. A total of 28,521 liters of alcohol was seized during this period.
